Is an out-of-state
CDL valid in
Georgia?
If your CDL is current and valid, you may not be
required to take the driving test to obtain your Georgia CDL. However,
you will still have to take the written and vision tests. As with
applying for any license, you must provide proper
identification and proof of your Georgia residency.
What are the age requirements to become a driver in the state of Georgia?
Individuals between 18 and 21 years of age can obtain their CDL; however, they are restricted to driving within the state of Georgia. Upon the age of 21, drivers can cross state lines and drive throughout the country.
Where do I take
the CDL test?
The written portion and the vision test can
usually be done at your local DMV; however, contact them just to make
sure. The driving portion of the CDL test can be completed in the
Georgia cities of Albany, Gainesville, Jackson, Milledgeville, or
Thomson.

How much does a CDL cost in Georgia?
If you are applying for a new CDL in the state of Georgia, it will cost $35. CDL renewals cost $20, plus an additional $5 for each endorsement.
I lost my CDL. How do I get a replacement?
If your CDL was lost or stolen, you must appear in person at the DMV in order to get a replacement. If your CDL was stolen, you need to call the police and must bring the police report with you to the DMV. You will need to bring proper identification (please consult the Georgia DMV website for approved identification) and may be required to fill out a Lost License Affidavit when you get to the department of motor vehicles.
